Film made during an art residency at Atelier A, Apricale, Italy, in collaboration with kids aged between 4-10 years old from a local school.
Using memory as a tool, a new, private, and collective version of the film “Flowers of Saint Francis” by Rossellini was made using moving image, and photography, to unravel a narrative that gradually unfolds around the 15 children and two characters that see their search of meaning and their narrative continuously defeated in favor of the incomplete, the aleatory. A group of 15 children is told to find, a fox, a whale, a bird, a leopard, an octopus, a river shrimp, a shark, and a bee; they try to manage the distribution of olives in the group and initiate a discussion on how they feel about nature leading to question their representation in the film.
Çok Güzel – and we will eat liver but if you want kebab you must go now, Part I
Exihibition at Adana Archaeological Museum, Turkey 2018
Digital print on photographic paper size 297 x 420 mm& 210 x 297 mm and offset printing on 297 x 420 mm fine grain paper.

The work appropriates the aesthetics of advertising ato communicate with locals during the two weeks of artistic residence in Adana.
Through the works in paper, a series of posters with small poems in Turkish were created.
They offer nothing more than the experience of conversations and moments that happened during the residence, the so-called remains / the left over.

The text works as a contingency, which in its strangeness may or may not create in its incommunicability a set of questions about its meaning, creating movements and actions.
Beauty as a Task - declining recurrent themes
Song, 2015
5 minutes duration performance
Digital print on canson cotton paper, 180gm and 200x200 cm wooden structure, single channel sound piece on loop 3.04 minutes duration
Elthorne Studios, London
Recorded vocals by Joseph Evans, Christos Loupis, Aries Maleas and Christina Shellag Mongelli

It is a song that was composed by adapting the melody of China Nights, a song performed in 1938 by Japanese singer Watabanabe Hamako. – Shina No Yoru, and text I written about beauty and the relationship between the audience and the work.
I re-assembled the text into a sort of pop-lyrical text, that reflects on love, beauty, identity, that is messy
and changing.

I was interested in the historical controversy concerning the identity of the original performer, to which seems
to be multiple performers, generating their hybrid performance styles in ironies, contradictions, and complexities.
At this time, entertainers’ performances were being shaped or negotiated in contact with different audiences and expectations, whilst female entertainers attempted to navigate the acceptable ground of performances and womanhood in the constantly changing political and ideological environment.
O trabalho está feito / The work is done
Installation view of text and weaving shown at Despina Art Residency, Rio de Janeiro. 2017
Digital prints on PVC banner 100x200cm, pink post it and four digital prints on fine cotton paper 200gm
297 x 420 mm
Free weaving cotton size 42.0 x 59.4cm
The text records time through small details of the everyday; walks along the rubbish collection lorry itinerary were the occasion to meet an entomologist who joined my daily routine. Soon, different insects took over the decision process to open the map of the city.
To conclude the residency, I created a publication, in the format of a diary, both fictional and autobiographical and, reflecting on ideas of time and the blurred boundaries between labour and leisure.
Ensaio Para Dass Ist Wie Die Dinge Gehen Em Babur with Isolde, 2015
4 channel Soundpiece, 5 min duration, Laundry Space Gallery, London

The work was inspired by the notion of passing time in relation to a continuous repetitive action - waiters reading menus to customers. The work was developed after spending six month working at Babur, a South East Indian Restaurant in London.
The menu content was adapted into a fictional encounter between Isolde and Tristan, the tragic love duo of Wagner, ree-inforcing the trgic repitition.
The waiters like Antonioni´s female characters, find no resolution in their actions, only repetition.
SCRIPT

Like some images, which don’t hold any intrinsic meaning, but acquire value and meaningfulness when they travel through screens, conversations, so does the speech when the body moves.

A score was written for all these parts, with images and text and rehearsed during three months with non-professional singers, and singers to compose something that explored the feeling of the words.
Two choruses who have not meet each before the performance.
Texts and drawings were created exploring images of the sea and fog to create movements for the singing and a script was turned into a score for collective singing.
The sculptures activated in the performance were inspired by a recollection of a scene from Fellini´s Rome (1972),where we see a plastic curtain, sheltering the camera that is filming a car crash scene in the rain.
